There are forms (easily recognizable pictures of people, animals, plants and every-day objects) that make sense and there are personas (happy, healthy, logical, etc.) that make sense to a society that enjoys "the right" forms and "the right" personas.
Today my boss who has recently returned from a business trip to Japan commented on the piece of art shown above which he saw in a museum while there. Regarding this work of art he said the following:
"But when I look at this one, I have a hard time finding the artistic talent."
I thought about what he said because to me this art has meaning and I've always authentically enjoyed modern art.
To him I responded the following:
"Maybe there isn't a lot of artistic talent. Maybe it's the fact that it's been created and that it can have an impact on you that makes it art. For example, to bring art to a personal level, I like to consider how I would feel if I came home everyday and a piece of art was in my living room or in my kitchen. What subtle effect might that have on me? This piece of "art" for example almost looks like a square that has been cut out from a worktable, schematics, architectural doodles or even scientific/logical notes of some sort. There is a sort of feeling to it of "production" or notes that could lead to "production." Soooooooo, if you agree with that general sense of what it comes from or what it looks like, what could that sense of "production" or "schematics" contribute to your home atmosphere if you put these all over your living room or all over your kitchen? You might assume that there would be no influence but eventually you'd probably want to knock them all down! Why? I don't know.....but mostly because they are having some kind of effect on you That to me is the interesting thing about art. What effect is it having on me? Why does it bother me that this piece seems to have no talent? Why would someone want to display this? Am I being conned? The very fact we ask these questions shows the effect of the art.......at least that's what I think. It's easy to see that someone has skill in drawing a human form because it looks or does not look like a human form but it is less easy to determine what has impact on us without the forms that we are used to."
After this response (which may or may not have resonated with him) I began to think about the forms and the personas that are easy for us as humans to accept. We accept artistic forms that look like things we have been taught to understand and we grow frustrated by what we have not been taught. We don't tend to be uncomfortable with what is outside-of-the-box because it is truly incomprehensible outside of what we have been taught to decipher as having meaning. But it exists! And just because it exists I believe it demands attention. (Perhaps that's why it bugs people so much when they look at it!)
We accept the personas that we have been taught are acceptable: the logical, the happy, the perfect, the strong. But what about the personas that have value but are often shoved under the rug? These personas such as the stubborn, the emotional, the obsessive (this persona has it's gifts when used wisely), the angry (very important to use this persona's gifts), the dark, the nervous, and the obscure. These personas are forms inside of us that make most of us nervous and that we don't recognize as readable or acceptable. THEY JUST SEEM SO DAMN NAUGHTY! However, that does NOT mean these forms are not readable. They certainly are but often instruction or deeper investigation is required. Turn inside yourself to consider and instruct yourself on why alternate forms (whether in art or in the personas you develop and accept inside of yourself) might be valuable to you personally.

"Learn to Play Many Roles"
Some people believe that you should be the same no matter who you talk to and no matter what situation you're in. I find that to be a strange thought. I suppose there can be a general consistency.....we are who we are.....but there are so many varying situations and we are called to bring out various aspects of ourselves to be successful in these situations and learn the most from them. Play a part....let it truly come from you.....it doesn't have to be fake....it doesn't have to be a charade.....in fact, you can be the most real you've ever been the deeper you dig for these supposed "masks" or these personas.

Why Do We Have Goals? And Why Would Humans Want to Accomplish Anything?!

I think there are ways to look at goals that might help us think about goals in a deeper way.
Consider this. If you ask people why they make a goal they are likely to say something like ‘I want to prove to myself I can do it,’ ‘I want to prove to others I can do it,’ or ‘I like the way it feels to accomplish something,’ and these statements are most likely all true. However, when we look at why we make goals at a deeper level I think what we really find is that we make goals because there is some part of us that wants to show something itself to the rest of the world. It’s like we’re on a stage and certain aspects of ourselves have had their time in the spotlight and now some other aspect wants to show off a bit. Maybe it's the part of us that likes to run or maybe it's the part of us that wants to be free and it shows itself through running. Who knows? There are so many aspects inside of us and so many ways that we can demonstrate those aspects that the sky is truly the limit!

So HOW Does the Personified Physique Work?
It’s easy and YOU get to initiate the
process.
Step #1: You choose one goal that is all about you. This goal cannot depend on anyone else or involve expectations of others. This goal is something that you want to accomplish.....for your growth, development, personal progression and happiness.
Step #2: You think of the one
characteristic, attribute that you need the most in order to accomplish your
goal. Of course you might need various characteristics but for the time being you'll focus on the one
that you need most. This characteristic will lead you to choose one word such as “Sexiness,”
“Intelligence,” “Tenacity,” “Luck” etc. that represents that characteristic.
Step #3: I take your word and create---if the video isn't available already---a series of movements, poses and mental awareness exercises that you complete in approximately 45-minutes.
Step #4: I then train you in the application of this characteristic or attribute for real-life scenarios. This is the easiest and most exciting part of the method. And the best thing about it is that we make it EASY!
Step #5: You begin to see change in your life (probably immediately if you are consistent* in working through steps#3-5 enough that the characteristic is becoming something you're aware of on a daily basis. You’ll see physical, mental and social changes. You may be amazed and how incredibly fast you can develop what you didn’t know you had!

Why Would You Need the Personified Physique?
You'd need the Personified Physique if you agree with some or all of the following:
- You want a new way of assisting you in achieving your #1 goal.
- You like to move! You're not the type that enjoys sitting around. It's just a part of WHO YOU ARE to move your body!
- You like to shift the way you think about yourself and find it empowering to see yourself in a new light. You innately believe that changing the way you view yourself can propel you into a new way of being and doing.
- You like to try new things and you don't get embarrassed easily. You're innately that kind of person that is like: "Hey! That looks interesting. Let me try!"
- Deep down you know that your mind influences your body and your body influences your mind and that many of your most valuable personal assets are invisible......at least at first!
- And lastly.....you enjoy thinking in layers/dimensions or would love to learn to think in a multi-faceted way that is deep and powerful. You also have a sense that the greatest artists, philosophers and scientists have achieved what they have achieved because they know how to think from a variety of different perspectives, paradigms and dimensions and that makes them very POWERFUL!
- All of the above plus you're ready for a hell of a good time!
Achieving your #1 goal no matter what it is right now is a BIG deal. The more you achieve goals the more you gain confidence in yourself to create in the physical world and that is VERY IMPORTANT! But it's also a big deal to just know what your #1 goal is right now! Many people go through life and never really pinpoint their biggest most ambitious goal. So what's yours? If it doesn't come to your mind immediately then take a day, a week or even a month to consider it. You may think of 5-6 goals that you want to accomplish now but choose the one you want the most. If after a period of time you still aren't sure I have some questions to help you narrow the field and state your goal.
You Like to Move!
Some people aren't the type who enjoy sitting around! We try to meditate and we get something out of it but mostly we crave action. We get inspiration when we walk and our best ideas come after we dance or play sports or workout. We love the feeling of our bodies and the textures of the world!
You Enjoy Paradigm Shifts
Maybe you've realized this but when your paradigm shifts EVERYTHING shifts. If, for example, you are developing more body awareness but still have the same paradigm that some bodies are beautiful and some are ugly then you've developed body awareness but are continuing to look at your body as better or worse than others. This is a paradigm that you may want to shift as you develop the body awareness so that you can see the beauty in every aspect of your body and discover the clues and discoveries that pain are meant to provide.
You've received an "Most Improved" award more times than you can count and everyone knows you as an adventurer or as someone with courage. To you, experience is far more valuable than money. Seeing even the new shade of a color or hearing a new kind of sound gives you thrills. You're the type who is simply willing to try.
Mind/Body and Body/Mind
Deep down you're convinced (regardless of scientific facts for or against the concept) that your mind and body are connected and affect each other. You know you can change your body by changing your mind and that you can change your mind by changing your body.

WHAT is the Personified Physique?
The Personified Physique is:
- A method for developing an attribute/quality within yourself
- A mind-body practice (like yoga or pilates the Personified Physique is based on mind-body connections)
- A new way of thinking (thinking in layers or you could also call it thinking in metaphor)
- A different way of getting to know yourself
A Method
A methodology is just a streamlined way of getting something done quickly. The Personified Physique is a method that uses an attribute/quality that you want to develop inside of yourself and designs the physical movements and poses (along with breathing of course) to stimulate and release that attribute/quality within you. If this seems a bit odd watch this TEDTalk and it will give you an idea of the direction that The Personified Physique can take you.
A Mind-Body Practice
A mind body practice essentially uses intention and mindfulness to influence the healing, flow and growth of the physical body. It assumes that what happens in the mind will affect the body. The Personified Physique assumes that the attributes and qualities you want to develop most are the next steps in your personal growth and that your physical body needs its own way of expressing those "next steps" and that is where the customized physical movements and poses come in.

When we talk about breath we talk about inhaling as "taking in life" and when we talk about exhaling we talk about "letting life go." When we talk about developing "sexiness" we go beneath the surface of words and talk about the shapes and rhythms that make male and female bodies sexy. When you step inside the Personified Physique it's almost like stepping into a new dimension!

However, who has time for regret?! It's time to get moving into our desires and preferences NOW! Mark Twain said "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did."
